We are a hands on charity registered in the UK (Registration No. 1113691) and in India. We work with known Christian churches in Northern Kerala and Sri Lanka. We have built our own boys home, girls home and school on our land in Mavelikara. We also have a training and development link with a Cancer Centre in Kerala and supply, equip and fund 2 ambulances for outreach clinics to poor cancer patients. Our latest work is the opening of a residential care home and a seperate drop in centre for elderly ladies who live on the streets and rubbish tips of Madurai. In conjunction with this we also run a tuition and care centre for children in a large slum in Madurai.
Since Pat's first visit in 1990 our philosophy has been Matthew 25.40 "Whatever you do for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you do for me." However, we do not seek to proselytise, but to show God's love to all of those we meet and are privileged to work with. Our philosophy will be to maintain our direct, hands on approach. Pat, or other trustees, will continue to visit the sponsored projects twice every year. We will only work with registered organisations that welcome questioning and scrutiny, and above all, we will ensure, as stewards of donated funds, that they are used in their entirety for the people they were meant to serve.
Pat Atkinson made her first visit to India in 1990 as part of a YMCA delegation. Since then she has made 41 trips to India and 5 to Sri Lanka. The Trust now runs various successful projects in 4 locations.
The Trust runs very successful sponsoring schemes for destitute elderly and children in India. We have built a new boys home, girls home, school and granny centre on our own registered land in Mavelikara. We are also supporting a tuition centre for Tsunami affected children in Sri Lanka.
